Description
This educational and intuitive app will help the provider calculate and verify the intravenous flow rate (IVFR), administration rate, and total volume over a period of time expressed as mg or mcg / kg / min. Most treatment facilities use IV Infusion Pumps that can be programmed to infuse volume-controlled fluids and calculate the administration and flow rates. This app will help the health care provider manually complete these calculations to:
• Verify the solution and volume delivery to help avoid any adverse effects.
• Check and confirm the accuracy of the IV Infusion Pump.
• Deliver the solution as ordered when an Infusion Pump is not available.
This is a simple process where you:
1. Enter the ordered solution amount in mcg
2. Enter the weight in (US) pounds or kilograms (the app will automatically convert pounds to kilograms)
3. Enter the dose available in mg
4. Enter the total volume of fluid in mL
5. Calculate the flow rate expressed as mL / hr
Note: To convert mcg to mg, multiply by 1000, to convert mg to mcg, divide by 1000.
