Description
Tefilat Kaparot is a Jewish folk custom during the days prior to the Day of Atonement (Yom Kipur) to transfer ones sins to a chicken or to money given to charity.
מנהג הכפרות מופיע במקורות הקדומים, ומטרתו להסיר גזֵרה רעה כלשהי מעל ראשנו. המנהג המקורי הוא להשתמש בתרנגול לגבר ובתרנגולת לאישה, אך אפשר לקיים מנהג זה גם בכסף שיינתן לתרומה.
