This app is from the temporary exhibition The Mask of Calakmul, A Jade Universe, at the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City starting on August 26, 2015, presented by the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia as the first display in a series called One Piece, One Culture.
The Mask of Calakmul, Universe of Jade is an innovative exhibition that through a single piece—the jade funerary mask from a tomb in Structure VII at Calakmul—offers visitors the opportunity to explore Maya culture through audiovisual, exhibition, sound, tactile, and poetic means. This masterpiece of Classic period Maya art is being displayed for the first time in this way. It allows visitors to engage in a profound, personal, and close encounter with this piece, as well as with the culture that gave it life, in an exhibition space enhanced by digital resources spotlighting the Calakmul mask as the star.
