Description

LactMed, part of the National Library of Medicines (NLM) Toxicology Data Network (TOXNET®), is a database of drugs and dietary supplements that may affect breastfeeding. It includes information on the levels of such substances in breast milk and infant blood, and possible adverse effects in the nursing infant. Suggested therapeutic alternatives to those drugs are provided, where appropriate. All data are derived from the scientific literature and fully referenced. Summaries of the reported information are provided and include links to other NLM databases. Supplemental links to breastfeeding resources from credible organizations are also provided.

Ma il database è americano. La lingua non sarebbe un problema (forse per qualche mamma si) però farmaci, per noi, sono ricercabili solo come principio attivo, perché i nomi commerciali sono differenti. Bisognerebbe fare il passo in più

If this app is truly for nursing mothers and not medical professionals, the information needs to be presented in laymans terms so its more accessible to the average person. Many people lack the health literacy necessary to interpret the info. Otherwise, great idea and has been helpful to me so far.

Fantastic app. Must have for breastfeeding moms. Doctors are not BFing experts and this easy to use app gives you all the info you need so you can do your own research and homework.
