Description
Lightning is a minimalist web browser designed with one thing in mind - speed of search. An order of magnitude smaller than other browsers, Lightning loads in less than a second and is ready to use straight away. Enable the "Lightning Lookup" service and search on selected text from any application in an instant by typing command-@.
Based on Webkit (the already fast core of the Safari and Chrome browsers), instead of unloading browsed pages as you navigate, Lightning keeps a buffer of many WebBrowser objects in memory. This allows you to return back to a previously viewed page instantaneously without having to wait for it to reload. This optimisation makes a huge difference to speed of navigation.
URLs (starting with http://) or search items can be selected or entered into the address bar. For search terms, select the site you wish use as a search engine on the popup list at the left hand side.
Other features include:
* History and Bookmarks are HTML pages containing an (optional) snapshot of the page when it was last viewed.
* The Bookmarks page is WSYWIG editable to "arrange" them and can be used as your home page. Use the “Manage/Save Bookmarks" menu item to make your changes permanent.
* Preloads next page off-screen when you hover over a link.
* Page by Page control over Flash content and cookies.
* All the usual trackpad gestures including zoom supported.
* To close a tab or remove a bookmark tap its icon.
* Full Spelling/Grammar checking available via edit menu.
* As a final boost to initial page load try Google DNS on 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4.
Lightning may not be the most refined browser on the internet but from the look of the reviews it may just be the fastest! Give it a try.

pas si rapide que ca
Encore des plantages
Toujours à signaler quelques plantages ainsi quune absence de comportement (aucune action sur clic) dans certains formulaires (dans ces cas là on sort et on recommence et ça le fait). Je le signale car je ne rencontre pas le pbm avec safari. Côté vitesse, rien de mieux quen version 1.2.10. Si vous avez un faux haut débit, cest la misère comme avec les autres browser.
Fait ce quil prétend
Rapide, léger et en plus tous les signets de Safari sont automatiquement accessibles. Vous me direz quest-ce quil apporte de plus que Safari qui est très bien. Personnellement, jouvre toujours la session précédente avec Safari pour que mes onglets de travail soient prêts. Et Lightning me sert bien quand je veux être en mode léger". Très simple et agréable pour des recherches. Jai limpression quil est très rapide avec utilisation minimum de ressources. Je pense que je vais men servir de plus en plus.
Bonne idée, mais à perfectionner
Très franchement, on sent que çà va vite. Mais pour le reste, cest vraiment rustique, on a la sensation dun browser un peu daté, pas facile à maîtriser. Il faudrait une interface un peu plus ergonomique, agréable à utiliser. Pas de gestures sur ma MagicMouse. Gestion des favoris difficile, peu flexible. On na pas envie den faire son browser de tous les jours. A mûrir sérieusement pour devenir agréable à utiliser. Mais pour la rapidité, cest vrai.

Naja, ich habe keinen unterschied zwischen TurboWeb und Safari bemerkt. Zudem hat man bei TurboWeb keine Tabs und keine Multi_touch gesten...
