Description

One of the challenges of studying Ancient Greek is to memorise its unfamiliar vocabulary, and the many forms each word can take. The most reliable way to learn this material is by constant practice, which is where Liberation Philology Ancient Greek can help. Wherever you have your phone and a free moment, Liberation Philology Ancient Greek is ready to drill you on Ancient Greek vocabulary and grammar with a continuous multiple-choice test. Your answers are immediately confirmed or corrected, and reinforced through repetition. • Vocabulary: 110 levels, each testing the translation of 10 words between English and Ancient Greek. Additional sections contain 220 levels of Homeric, 210 levels of New Testament vocabulary, and 110 levels based on Plato’s Apology. Interspersed among these are cumulative levels reviewing what has been learned earlier (giving a total of 733 levels). • Nouns: Tests your ability to parse and decline all classes of Ancient Greek nouns. • Adjectives & Pronouns: Tests your ability to parse and decline all classes of Ancient Greek adjectives & demonstrative pronouns. • Verbs: Tests your ability to parse and conjugate a range of paradigmatic Ancient Greek verbs. • Participles: Tests your ability to recognise and decline Ancient Greek participles. A further Reference module allows you to review the vocabulary word-list and paradigms. Beginning students also have the option of displaying Greek text in transliteration.

Excellent app!

jgft7 · 9 years ago · v1.8.3

After trying many manual parsing methods and being through many apps Ive came to this wonderful tool, maybe the best one there is to studying greek verbs and names inflexion. There is a minor point in which I think it misses: its not possible to type the answers, which would be great if not the parsing (that would make studying a burden, which it the disadvantage of other methods, from which LP benefits, in its being simple and quick), at least it would be so when giving the asked verb. Another interesting option would be to select the category to be studied. So if I tend to confuse certain tenses, for example, I would be able to make a studying session on them. Lastly, Id also suggest making an explanation on the basics of the app, explaining how it deals with verbes that can be parsed it more then a way, if the levels progress automatically, &c. Clearly none of this spoils the usefullness of the app. Id say only writing the verbs asked would make a really considerable difference, by enabling the user to acquiring an active competence besides the passive one that the app already guarantees. As I said, my opinion is that this is already the best tool to learning greek inflexion there is!

Very helpful!

Useful tool to memorize vocabulary and forms. More colors and a swifter evolution from one level to the other would be very much appreciated.
