Description

Application sets the language based on the language settings on your device. LvivPlaces is the first offline guide about Ukrainian city Lviv with rich database of POI and content in English, Russian and Ukrainian. It has been designed as universal application for iPhone and iPad. LvivPlaces - перший offline путівник по українському місту Львів з великою базою памяток, ресторанів, кафе трьома мовами: українською, російською та англійською. The Places guide of Lviv was created by the locals of the city. We personally picked up the content for the application based on our experience and knowledge of places. All content including maps is offline (except Events) so you don’t need internet connection for data access. FEATURES ✔ Five walking tours! ✔ Free travel quiz! ✔ content in 3 languages: English, Russian and Ukrainian ✔ 80 points of tourist attractions ✔ more than 150 restaurants, bars, night clubs with images and short description ✔ shows which place has free WiFi ✔ “locate me” feature based on GPS or Wifi. Note that iPod Touch does not have GPS so your location is determined by WiFi hotspots and as a result the accuracy suffers. ✔ sort out places by distance from your current location ✔ all content is offline except Events and Foursquare tips ✔ call taxi directly from the app ✔ prepare for the trip: add places you want to visit to your Favorites ✔ zoomable maps (openstreetmap.org) with places ✔ feed of current events in Lviv (in Ukrainian only) ✔ integrated foursquare tips ✔ universal application for iPhone and iPad

This app provides very detailed, useful and interesting informaton about architecture, famous places, clubs, cafes and restsurants for tourists in Lviv. Very good description of cafes and restaurants with the type of the kitchen. I would defenitely recommend this app to anybody travelling to Lviv.

Well done

Disappointing: very distorted

neu242 · 12 years ago · v1.9.1

Dont waste your time downloading this app. Its written in very Ukrainian-nationalistic style and gives you extremely distorted picture of the history of Lviv. Polish past of Lviv is completely omitted. For example you can learn that Lviv was under "Polish ruling" as if it was not a Polish city, but you cant learn that Poles were majority before WW1 and WW2 and Ukrainian population was even smaller than Jewish. You can learn that at the end of 18th Century Halychyna (Galicia) was transferred to the Habsburgs empire, as it was a kind of independent country under "Polish ruling", but not that in fact this transfer was an effect of aggressive action (partition) of Habsburgs against Poland and that Halychyna was integral part of Poland. I agree that the beginnings of the city were Ruthenian, but later most of its population voluntary tended towards Polish culture and the Polish state. No word on Jewish heritage of Lviv. Shame. In other words: a great idea but its content absolutely lacks historical proficiency.
