During the Beatles’ brief lifetime as a band, the Fab Four changed the face of popular culture forever. In 1963 – after formative years spent in Liverpool and Hamburg – John, Paul, George and Ringo moved permanently to London. MapVille Beatles London displays the sites in and around the city associated with the iconic band from their first live appearance in the capital at a Soho after-hours club in December 1961 until the group’s formal dissolution at the Royal Courts of Justice in March 1971. From the era-defining events to the more mundane moments of their private lives, the app shows you 182 Beatles-related places around the city in nine different categories: filming locations, concert venues, the band members’ homes during the 1960s, the sites of recording venues and iconic photoshoots, the hippest Swinging London nightspots and much more besides. The app is a must-have for Beatles fans – whether tourists or residents – out and about in London. Want to know if the Beatles did anything noteworthy close to where you are in the capital at any given moment? Just tap the ‘Nearest’ tab and the map will display the nearest Beatles site to the user. Not in London? You can still roam the map and follow the Beatles’ movements in the city during the 1960s from wherever you are. It’s a fabulous magical mystery tour, all in the palm of your hand!
