My one and only negative comment is the inability to delete “Payee” after one time entry making it cumbersome to get by that entry in the alphabetical order next time entering Payees. Still after almost 3 years I am learning the idiosyncrasies of this app. However, it still has been a good workhorse for keeping track of my income and expenses. My original complaint is still the only main complaint. I can live with all the other little trouble makers.
Effective Replacement for MS Money
I have been using Ms Finance for over a year. I purchased it as a replacement for MS Money and have found it to be an effective replacement that is easy to use for all my home finances. I had been using MS Money on pc’s for a long time (10 + years). When I changed to using a Mac I needed something to replace Money. I used other apps offered in the App Store but none of them felt comfortable to use or had all the functionality I needed. I also had some security concerns with one app. Then I found Ms Finance. It takes care of all my home finance requirements, has the functions I need and I don’t worry about security. It offers about the same features as MS Money did. When I purchased this app the tutorial was weak so it took a little while to discover how to do certain things. I’m sure that that has been corrected. The one small issue I have is with recurring expenses. I would like the previous amount shown on all previous posted expenses and have the option to save that amount or revise it. That would also make it easier to determine if a bill had been paid or if there has been a change to a recurring payment. Other than that this is a great app.
Good Overall
I started using this 2 years ago when I changed from PC to Mac. Works well for my needs and simple to navigate. I agree with other reviewer that it’s tedious not being able to delete payee once it’s in the system.
Not liking it...
I came from MS Money for years and was searching for a replacement. Bought this and was sorely disappointed. The “reconcile” button, when you are in that mode, will bring up all transactions, even though they are already reconciled. Also, it doesn’t keep the begining balance and you need to keep checking that. Also, you can not easily locate transactions. There is no search button. It’s very busy and doesn’t keep clean records. When looking at your register… its not impressive and looks busy. The “saving” is also not easy…. you have to always pick backup. Very disappointed!! Not even close to MS Money…. I wish I would have looked further or figured out how to keep MS Money on Apple Products. Don’t waste your money if you are looking for a professional product with ease of use.
Backup
Have not been able to backup my data to a second drive since installing OS Sierra. After attemping, my Mac will not restart or shut down. I have to manually shut it down.
Simply and easy to use
Just what I was looking for but it would be a lot better if recurring enteries would subtract from the total instead of me having to go in and enter that the item has been paid. Its a extra step that I think could be eliminated.
tim
I used to use a quicken program for my personal banking records. Since going to a mac, this program has been just great. Had one small issue and got immediate tech support with great customer service. I highly recommend this product.
