NBCU Studio mobile application is an interactive production tool for film makers. It provides all the necessary information about the 3 facilities at Universal Studios, Chicago and New York at the users finger tip. Critical Information is offered about the various stage specifications, lots, maps, navigation to the stages, photos and much more to assist the film makers in completing their projects. Directory is the list of all contacts. This provides the user with contact information for various services offered in three facilities. Search enables the user to filter the contacts by name or by category of service provided. The contacts can be imported to contacts in local mobile device and also can be shared through SMS/email to others. Application allows the user to take screenshots of any page which can be shared through mail. Any change to the directory information will be pushed to the user when they open up the application, if they are connected to internet. The virtual tour gives them an augmented view of the Studio using spherical photography thus making it easy to scout various backlot location and get what they need. GPS locates the user and provides direction to various locations within the Universal Studios (all the stages and other important places) from current location. Various locations are marked up with pins on the map and by tapping the pin the location name is displayed. Users can get the driving directions from their current location to any of the Universal Studio’s marked locations on the map by tapping on the respective location labels. First time users find the driving on the lot information and requirement for insurance information very useful even before they reach the lot. For frequent users, this would be a quick reference. Weekly the commissary menu is published and this tool comes in handy for the production unit to look through the menu and order the food. All in all this tool is a must have when you are on the lot.
