Piikki: Receipt Scanner at Mac App Store analyse

I had thought it was an awesome app until I needed to restore my files after phone crash. The app would diligently inform me it was backin up my files every 2 weeks... but to where? I have no idea and I cant restore my years worth of receipts gone! Tech support has not emailed me back after weeks of trying and their website is useless. A waste of money and time and now Ive got to recreate a years worth of tax receipts (if I can!)

As Someone who is inherently disorganized I find this app incredibly valuable in keeping track of my expenses.

What happened to iCloud backup?!?

This has been my favorite scanner app for several years until it stopped working a little over a week ago. Ive contacted support three times and havent heard back. Im able to scan the picture but it wont upload. Please update the app and Ill update my review. Im switching to TurboScan since they never updated Pikki. Update: Im changing my review to five stars since the update fixed the issue. Thanks! Once again the app isnt uploading scans.

I only bought the app because it was written in the news of the last update that OCR (Optical Character Reader) had been fixed. I assumed there actually was a OCR system. Turns out there is none. It is just a scanner. Waste of money and time. Any other free app is better.

update 2016.09.27: Im back to update my review, 2 years after my last review, to thank the developers for keeping it alive! I see here some frustrated reviews for lack of support and features, which I can understand. But for me, as a veteran user of Piikki for many years, and even at some point looked for an alternative because Piikki development was stopped (but thankfully revived!) I have yet to find a better replacement, and the app still serves me well! (and NO, I am not related or paid to write this review, this is my honest opinion, and I did try plenty alternatives). If you really care why, I will gladly explain: it scans the receipt and has options to crop and fine tune sharpness, it has custom options to setup the file size and file type (.jpg or .PDF), it allows adjusting the files date! (very convenient if you have to search for a receipt amongst hundreds!) it has multiple file naming template options! - so you dont have to retype a filename, everytime you scan a receipt (a huge time saver for organised people, who uses specific filenames for receipts!) it has custom categories (another huge time saver, if you like to sort your receipts by category, which later can be used in graph reports!) And what if you need to separate receipts by business and personal or separate by credit card, debit,cash etc...?! - Pikkii got you covered with custom tags!!! Still not convinced? You got full control of which metadata is attached to the receipt, including personal notes! Concerned about privacy? Use a pass code. Need reports? It has granular ones! Custom backup? You got it - 1,2 weeks or 1,6 months with options to restore,delete and backup now, including cloud services: Evernote, Dropbox, Google and backup to any email address with granular customized options! (only while the app is open). Navigate through your receipts by New, expensed and archived receipts with sorting options by time, category, A to Z or location based. And most sorting and tagging options can be used to show on the graphical reports to almost any option you can think of! Do you know any other app that can do all of the above?! I have not tested all apps in the app store, but I own some of the top rated ones and tried plenty, some of them do better than Piikki, in one way or another, but non cover all of the above features. Thanks again to the developers for keeping Piikki alive!!! I was just mourning it in a review a day before the upgrade, on another apps review page, saying I couldnt find a match yet, and its back! To the developers: I know its not your interest, but if for some reason, you decide not to continue the development of Piikki (based on the months taken to see an update since the last one), please consider us, your loyal users, and help us retrieve and have access to our database, even though its not your responsibility, it will be very thoughful at least a heads-up warning - recently I upgraded my phone that came with the new iOS 8, and found myself locked out of it, since it crashed every time I tried opening it.
