Description

A virtual reality tour demonstrating the process of 21st-century integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) design at Southern Companys Kemper County Energy Facility in Mississippi. IGCC converts lignite coal to synthesis gas. The lignite is sent through a device called a gasifier where it undergoes a chemical reaction creating a synthesis gas. The gas is then used to generate power by firing it in a gas turbine.
