Story behind the app
The idea for this app started when I was filming for the BBCs Private Life of Plants. A friend visiting my garden asked how I managed to create such a colorful, year-round display. She struggled with choosing plants, especially for specific spots like under a tree or around her garage. I realized there had to be an easier way for people to find the right plants, no matter their gardening experience.
So, I created an interactive plant database that helps users find plants suited to any garden condition. Over time, we incorporated features like search based on plant attributes and the ability to add notes and keep a record of the plants in their garden.
Lastly, we introduced our revolutionary assistant, Planty AI, to help users add the right plants with ease. With over 10 years in the making, collating the data and over 15,000+ photographs to help with identification.
Today, there are just two of us: me and app developer, Sylwester, working on this great app.
