Description
Assuring that safe injection practices are used is a critical component of safe patient care in all healthcare settings. This free application provides the opportunity for the users to monitor, assess, and catalogue current injection practices that are in place within a given healthcare facility. Data can be collected and a report emailed to individuals as a means of record-keeping. The application consists of an organized list of injection practices and evaluative items relevant to those practices. Each question should be able to be answered with a YES, NO or DO NOT KNOW response. If the injection practice is in alignment with safe practice, the answer to the question should be YES. If the response is NO, that should prompt immediate intervention. If the response is DO NOT KNOW, that should prompt an immediate investigation to ensure that safe injection practice is indeed in place. The goal of this first iteration of the application is to facilitate a monitoring process that can prevent patient harm. To utilize the application effectively, the individual assessing safe injection practice should have knowledge of the processes and be skilled in their evaluation. Comments and suggestions for application improvement are welcomed.
