The Saying When app was designed and developed by the Education department at The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Canada’s leading addictions and mental health hospital. The program itself has been used with great success for over 20 years, and is now finally available in a mobile format. You can make it work for you. With Saying When, you can get help and keep your concerns about your drinking private. There’s no need to attend meetings or open up in front of a group. It’s a self-help approach that truly is anonymous and can positively influence your health, your job, or your relationships. A PROGRAM THAT WORKS Based on research and evaluation of various treatment methods for patients with alcohol problems Saying When is a self-help program that has a proven track record. The same tools that successful people have consistently used to bring their drinking under control for over 20 years are used in this mobile version. SELF-ASSESSMENT Answer a few quick questions to set your baseline for success. Understanding when and why you drink will help you know when to “say when.” And if you ever think you can’t do it alone and need more support, links to resources are available. Good dashboard, advice imprecise

The weekly dashboard and goal setting is the best I have seen among similar apps. However, as far as the recommendations go, I find it odd that there is no differentiation based on gender or weight. So the same information is being presented to a 120 lb woman as a 210 lb man, which doesnt really make sense given the vast difference in ability to metabolize between these two hypothetical individuals.

Needs daily tracking for successes

Suggestion for update: Theres no method for tracking successful days. If I successfully abstain, theres no reason to go into the app. There actually is a place where a check mark appears per day, but its automatically checked first thing in the morning like, "Today is Day 3 of your goal." Instead, make ME go there at the END of the day to check-off whether I kept to my goal. Tracking urges and drinks is a nice feature, but if I have neither of those, I dont need to access the app. Its a satisfying feeling to check off another day that I didnt drink, to be accountable by knowing I must note it in my app. But this app doesnt have that feature. Include that, and itll be much a better use for this app.

Really like how this works, but on third week it no longer shows where you go over your daily limit. Also includes last day of second week as 1st day of third. Otherwise very solid and well thought out
