"I found the puzzles to be adorable and I was impressed with how many are included in the app. I watched my two year complete one of the simpler puzzles without any assistance so they’re definitely doable for three year olds."

The app presents your child with sets of geometrical shapes which they can use to construct pre-defined images of buildings, vehicles, people, animals, plants, tools and lots more.
The additional training module is aimed at teaching toddlers to recognize and name polygons, circles and ovals.
Shapes & Puzzles helps improve your child’s ability to recognize shapes and sizes, and contributes to the refinement of their perceptual skills. They are encouraged to spot geometrical shapes in the surrounding environment, and appreciate the symmetry and asymmetry in architecture and design that they come into contact with every day.

A Preschool Favorite
What We Liked: Shapes & Puzzles by Pirate Trio is my go-to shape puzzle. It is absolutely, without doubt my hands-down favorite first tangrams, shape puzzle, and pattern blocks type app. There are SO many puzzles included and my children absolutely love it. If there is one app I can count on to keep my 5 and 3-year-olds happily occupied (yes, they willingly take turns making these puzzles) while I work with my 8-year-old, this is it. Let me be brutally honest – we have physical pattern blocks, we have one of those books where you photocopy a page and give it to your child so they can put the pattern blocks on the picture to make the image. And it never gets used. Ever. (Yes, I am one of THOSE homeschool moms). By the time I scan the page, find the pattern blocks, get the girls set up at the table, try to stop baby from putting the ones that fall on the floor in her mouth etc. it is a huge hassle. It has been a great relief (and guilt reliever) to be able to give my girls the same sort of shape-based spatial exploration on an iDevice. No lost pieces, no papers to fiddle with or book to find, no baby trying to eat small shapes. My children absolutely love this app as well, they love the pirates and tap them repeatedly to hear their encouragement, they love seeing the competed puzzles, I love that they are happily occupied and building spatial intelligence. What We Didn’t Like: It would be nice to have a reset button to clear the starfish on the completed puzzles. My girls aren’t big fans of the shape-training segment of the app – I think they’d enjoy this part of the app more if there was achievement and positive reinforcement at shorter intervals (like levels or groups of questions) rather than just a long string shape identification exercises. The shape trainer also identifies the trapezoid as a trapeze – a term I’m not personally familiar with for identifying shapes (UK perhaps?). Overall: We’ve been using Shapes & Puzzles by Pirate Trio for months and it has yet to be unseated as our favorite first tangrams/pattern block/shape puzzle app. It holds a permanent place of honor in my preschool-taming toolkit and is ALWAYS installed on our iDevices. Containing a huge number of puzzles with simple navigation, and great design – if you have preschoolers, I’d consider this app a must have. I received a promo code.
My boy is a fan
Simple, intuitive and yet very engaging. You can choose from 4 different types of games that develop different skills. Very well designed which is quite rare.
Simple fun, very intuitive
Well polished app for children. Creative, simple but powerful.
Pirate Trio Shapes and Puzzles
This is a great app. Beautiful to look at and fun to use. Its like having a room full of those great old-fashioned wooden puzzles with the pieces being made of shapes. My 6-year-old daughter with special needs, started the program and began playing it with no help from me. It held her attention for 25 minutes and was so intuitive that she knew immediately how to get a new puzzle to appear. It has become a favorite ever since and provides entertainment when we are waiting for siblings.
Nice puzzles
A nice puzzle app. I am using it in speech therapy. Good for cognitive skills.
My kids love it
Great app!! My boys love it!!! Love how the man praises them when they get the correct answer.
