Sonocaddie 3 Golf GPS PRO at Mac App Store analyse

also ich finde, dass Sonocaddie die wohl beste App derzeit ist um Entfernungen beim Golf zu messen. Mag ja sein, dass andere Apps wie Golfshoot einen etwas grösseren Funktionsumfang haben, aber in Punkto Batterieverbrauch ist Sonocaddie einsame Spitze. Auf einer 18 Lochrunde verbraucht Sonocaddie gerade mal 10 % der Batterieleistung, während mir Golfshoot nahezu 70 % Batterieleistung entzieht.

Ich habe die app jetzt auf zwei Runden auf meinem Heimatplatz getestet. Ein Loch, welches vor 4 Jahren(!!!) komplett verändert wurde, war in der veralteten Form abgebildet, zwei Bahnen sind um ca 100 Meter seitlich verschoben, so dass man angeblich im Rough steht, sich aber mitten auf dem fairway befindet - da geht gar nicht!!!! Die Grafik ist schön hell auch in gedimmter Ansicht, der BAtterieverbrauch ist ok und man kann das Teil auf 18 Löchern auch nutzen, wenn man sich an die Batteriespareinstellungen hält, wie vorgeschlagen. Ich würde die app nicht wieder kaufen, auch wenn der support mir zugesagt hat, das fehlerhafte Loch innerhalb von 20 Tagen zu korrigieren-ich habe keine Lust, selber mit dem Maßband die Darstellung der Plätze zu prüfen!

Die App. Macht genau, was sie soll. Habe schon vorher ein Sonocaddy-Gerät gehabt. Die Funktionalität ist noch einmal verbessert worden.

Ich nutze schon seit Jahren verschiedene Sonocaddie-Geräte zur exakten Distanzmessung und habe mir jetzt diese App geholt. Sie ist gut, aber nicht perfekt. Es ist praktisch, weil das Handy meist sowieso dabei ist (und kleiner als die Original-Geräte). Aber der Funktionsumfang ist geringer und das Handling ist auch nicht ganz so gut. Mir fehlt zum Beispiel die Möglichkeit, die Platzdaten zu verändern und eigene Werte und Ergänzungen einzustellen. Beispiel: viele Monate spielen wir in unserem Club auf Wintergrüns. Diese habe ich in das Sonocaddie-Gerät eingegeben - das geht bei der App nicht! Es werden immer nur die Originaldaten von der Datenbank geladen.

Update (July 23, 2011): Just checked this morning and found that all the courses I normally play are now come with the aerial views. With this feature, I am happy with the app. As such, Ive upgraded my menbership to "Advanced Membership". With the one time fee, I can now access all the courses world-wide. My initial comments: I used to own a stand alone Sonocaddie V300 and I liked it. I sold it because it didnt have the aerial views and it was not a touch screen unit. I was happy to receive an email informing me that the new iPhone app has both the colour layouts and the aerial vieews. However, I am very disappointed to find out that only a few Canadian courses are currently with aerial views. Also, when I tried a course (downloaded through the Lite membership), an "Upgrade" message kept popping up every third hole. Very annoying.

As advertised the app is easy to read in direct sunlight as are hole targets which are clear marked on the colour layouts. Mapping support is excellent with turnaround on new courses within 2-3 weeks as promised. My only concern is the inability to edit or add new targets to an existing course. As good as mapping can be it is still reliant on satellite imagery which can be hit or miss for accuracy which is the primary purpose of any golf GPS software. Hopefully this will be added to a software update in the near future. Otherwise I would have rated this app with 5 stars.

Moved from a golf guru to this app because I like using the layout views more than the aerial views. Accuracy is great. The views are very clear. Fast to load and fast to recalibrate when coming out of lock between shots. Hope they find it possible in the future to add toggling to the scoring. Using the keyboard to score a tad awkward when the hole is listed below the keyboard.
