Description
SoundGuy is a sound player tool for improv techs, live theater, sound designers, djs, radio hosts and sports sound.
SoundGuy allows you to open a folder containing your audio files into the main window and begin immediately playing them just by typing the first few letters of the file name and pressing return. Unlike sound button apps, which allow for the setting of short-cut keys to play back sounds, SoundGuy keeps your entire folder at your fingertips.
SoundGuy also features four sound modules to load sounds into to play and mix into your soundscape. The sound modules have a loop option so that you can determine if you want to loop the sound (i.e.: beats, ambient sounds, etc.) or just play the sound as a one-off (i.e.: music, underscoring or additional sound effects) by pressing the number key associated with your sound module (1, 2, 3 or 4).
The main window as well as the four sound modules all have separate volume sliders to really give you control over the soundscape you create.
SoundGuy is very keyboard driven. Just type the first few letters of the sound you want to play, press return and the sound plays. Press shift+return and the sound plays in reverse. Press (single quote key) and the sound will loop. Space bar will pause and un-pause your currently playing sound.
Help is available by clicking on the "?" icon on the right hand side of the app. Using help in this way allows you to stay in the app when you need a quick key-combo reminder.
SoundGuy is the audio tool of choice for improvisational sound effects at Sak Comedy Lab in Orlando, FL. SoundGuy does not include sound effects, you must provide your own sound library.
