Meet your new digital cooking assistant.

SousChef lets you organize your recipes, find new recipes, and cook — all from within one application. You can digitize your own family traditions, or search our cloud database of over 200,000 recipes. Most cooking software stops at letting you organize your recipes. With SousChef, you can do it all from one easy-to-use app.

— Tap the Cloud

With SousChef, you get access to a cloud database made up of over 200,000 of our users recipes. Every time a user enters a recipe, it is submitted to the database and is available for you to find and cook. Of course, if you have a secret family recipe you don’t want to share, SousChef lets you opt-out of sharing recipes.

— What’s in your Fridge?

SousChef lets you find recipes based on what you have in your refrigerator. You can search for recipes based on ingredients; SousChef will rank the results according to how many of each recipe’s ingredients you have. No more searching through hundreds of recipes to find one that you can make without a special trip to the store.

— Cook with your Computer

SousChef includes a ten foot mode that lets you read your recipes from anywhere in the kitchen while keeping your computer in a safe location. The high contrast fullscreen mode gives you only the info you need to know. SousChef can read your recipes to you, or you can control SousChef via speech or a remote. If you have SousChef for iPad or iPhone, you can send your recipes to those devices and use them to cook.

— Substitute with Ease

Ever find a recipe that calls for Bok Choy and you happen to be all out this week? SousChef lets you substitute ingredients on the fly based on our list of substitutions. By the way, you can substitute Swiss Chard for that Bok Choy.

— Blog it. Email it. Share it.

Want to blog about that recipe you cooked last night? SousChef integrates with blogging software to let you blog your favorite recipes in style. Need to email that secret family candy recipe to your brother? Not a problem — one click and its ready to send.

— Import

Ever find a recipe on the web you’d like to save? Our import tool makes it easy. Copy a recipe into SousChef, and SousChef will identify the ingredients and directions. Customize the recipe if SousChef has misidentified anything, and youre ready to go. Most recipes can be imported in just a few clicks.

Could be great

I really like this app, i was looking for something that i could put my own recipes in. However I have only put 2 recipes in and it crashed at least 10 times per recipe, very annoying. However i am sure there will be bug fixes that will be sent out as this is new. If you fix the crashing it will be great! also I am hoping this can be used through Icloud with my ipad2 one day as well.

Hopefully better with updates...

If the bugs were fixed, this app would be amazing! I was looking for a convenient place to put all of my recipes in one spot on my computer and this app seemed perfect. After I entered one recipe, though, it crashes every time I try to enter a new one. Hopefully these issues will be fixed soon, because I can definitely see the potential that this app has.

Good idea, at least

Im an executive chef and needed a good app to keep my recipes so I have backups and a set template for all of my restaurants recipes and this was something that seemed all-inclusive. I didnt have any issues with crashing after entering recipes as some reviews said; or so I thought. But, after Id entered and saved all my recipes and reopened the program a couple of days later, it had only saved 3 of them and the rest were gone, so Ill have to go and re-enter them. I spent $20 on something I could have spent $10 on from a website or done myself in a program and now I have to spend twice as much time dealing with it. If you have hundreds of recipes like I do, its not worth it until they fix the bugs.

So far so good!!

I just purchased the SousChef app and I enjoying it so far. A few times I had trouble getting the "+" to come up when adding Directions, but I just went back into the Editing section and the "+" came back. That is a bug I would like fixed, but it is not a big deal. You can set all of your recipees into categories and rate them. I really like how the recipe becomes huge when it comes time to cook. It is really easy to see while cooking. I do not need the computer right next to the stove and I can still see it.

Keeps crashing even with update

App keeps crashing while entering a new recipe even after I did the update that was supposed to fix this issue. Ive had to re-enter everything so many times, that Im going to give up for now until there is a new update that actually corrects the issue.

Good for me!

Ive been trying to find an app for my recipes and this pretty much fills the bill and I am using it as my main/only recipe box. Once every few times I have difficulty importing a recipe (it only brings in portions of either ingredients or directions) but usually this works just fine. The "search" feature does not always work for searching recipes within the app rather than on the web. It would be better if they could somehow incorporate a timer.

Crashes when adding new recipe

Things were going good with this version until I got MacBook Pro 2012 -July Update to fix CPU utilization. After applying everytime I attempt to add new recipe, program crashes. I would hold off purchasing this until this gets resolved. From what little I have seen of the program, its great and I am awaiting an update to fix this.
