Space Defender Lite at Mac App Store analyse

Another old school arcade style top down shooter. Considering there are no screen shots here I was expecting the 1980s style graphics that usually go with these games, but the graphics instantly drew me in. Sure theyre old school inspired, but does a good job of keeping an old school look without actually looking like it was made in the 80s. I wouldve definately have rated this higher and would have seriously considered getting the full edition BUT the controls are pretty clunky, its difficult to control your ship. The controls are simple, arrow keys to move and space bar to shoot, the problem is that the enemies move far faster then the ship responds to your commands. Visually this is a well done shooter but functionally this game felt unbalanced, unfair, and ultimately unworthy.

This game has a lot of potential and I see that it is labled lite! The enemy needs to be more fluid and not so linear in their movements. Even something side to side. Also moving forward could speed up as well as slow down. How about weapon upgrades and increase in difficulty of enemy. I see the time taken into the graphics! The ships look great! Maybe an auto fire button but slower at first. Upgrades increase the firing rate. I have more ideas but I wanted to see how open you were to changes. Ill keep my eyes peeled for updates. The rating will improve!
