Description

***Now with ability to upgrade at a discount*** Whether you’re a speech and language pathologist (SLP), an SLP college student, a parent of children with speech delays, or someone trying to improve their American English accent, you’re going to find this an invaluable application. A first of its kind in the field, Speech Tutor brings the latest in technology and animation to the world of speech. The animations inside Speech Tutor take the areas of the face that impede the view of tongue placement and positioning and make them transparent. Now one can literally see inside the mouth as the sounds are being made! Speech Tutor offers a “Side View” and a “Front View” of each sound production, both of which can be viewed at 3 different speeds (slow, medium, fast). The movies can also be paused any given point. With 132 animations in all, Speech Tutor is sure to offer a helpful view and speed for anyone in need. Speech Tutor does not stop there though. Non SLPs can begin the application by reading an easy to understand “Basics” tutorial which provides the reader with a solid foundation of the basic knowledge needed to know before attempting to improve any/all English consonants. Also provided is detailed text specific to each sound that further describes how each sound is technically made, tips provided by licensed speech and language pathologists, and milestones for when each sound should be acquired and mastered. Along with viewing the animations, one can also view a “Palate” diagram to further demonstrate where on the palate the tongue should be placed. Last but not least, users of the application can choose to record themselves as they practice their target sounds and then choose to play it before and after a correctly modeled production. Animations for the following sounds are provided: P, B, T, D, K, G, N, M, ING, F, V, S, Z, SH, CH, J, L, R (retroflex and bunched), TH (voiced and voiceless) and 4 new vowel animations - /i/, /u/, /a/ and /æ/

Vokale fehlen! Bittere Enttäuschung

vermontjunkie · 11 years ago · v1.03

Die App macht viel daher und hielt ich wie geschaffen für Ausspracheunterricht. Nur leider glauben die Macher wohl Sprache bestünde nur aus Konsonanten!!!! Frechheit - bin keinem Wort würde darauf hingewiesen...

Amazing App

SUTER101 · 13 years ago · v1.03

I bought this app after seeing my daughter practice sounds with her SLP. Its really helping her. Recording her making the sounds really motivates her. She can see how well she is doing.

I tried to send you an email but it says you no longer have a site. My app is stuck with an initializing icon on the Center of the screen. I have deleted it, reloaded it....tried everything I can and its still there. Can you help me fix this issue?

a thoroughly indispensable app for SLPs working on articulation and motor speech disorders

Carla C., SLP · 15 years ago

Many of us therapists who have worked with individuals with articulation and motor speech disorders had at one time or another wished at the back of our minds for a way to show our clients HOW to position the articulators in order to produce the target phonemes. This app is it. Instead of shining a penlight into ones mouth, this app lets us show our clients exactly what should be done before each phoneme is produced. Features such as information about each phoneme, options to tweak playback speed and viewpoint, and an option to record ones voice are very welcome features that makes this app a must in every SLPs hands.

Speech Tutor (in Your Pocket)

Neansai1 · 14 years ago

Im not a certified speech therapist, but as a special education teacher, I’ve found many uses for their apps in my tutoring practice. When a student has difficulty producing the right sound when we are spelling words (I use Sound Literacy for word building) I switch to Speech Tutor or Minimal Pairs. With Speech Tutor, the student can listen to the sound being produced, while watching either a side view or front view of the mouth as the sound is made. This aspect of the app can be shown at slow, medium, or fast speed, which really helps the student ‘see’ the sound being made. The student can then match their tongue, teeth, and lips to the model, and record themselves making the sound. A really cool feature is that the animation of the face has a ‘see-through’ quality which allows you to see the position of the tongue in relation to the lips and teeth. Another is the ‘palate diagram’ for certain sounds. This is also handy for helping students understand tongue placement. In addition, older students can take advantage of the pop-up that explains in detail how the sound is produced. After using this app, my adult client had an ‘aha’ kind of moment, and could produce the sounds more accurately as well as hear the sounds better when I said syllables or words. After looking at several apps, I found that Speech Tutor has very accurate sound production, eliminating the ‘uh’ sound that is so difficult to hold back…i.e. ‘p’ is ‘p’, not ‘puh’…this is very important for spelling accuracy…i.e. it’s P I G not P UH I G. It’s helping my students tremendously to understand that there are THREE sounds, not FOUR in the word. This app is very well done, and there’s a short ‘basics’ tutorial on how to make the sounds, so that parents could use this to practice with their children at home, under a speech therapist’s direction. Dont waste your money!

Dont waste your time or money. This program will not teach you anything you dont already know about speech disorders or delays. I do not have a degree as a speech therapist but Ive created better phonemes on PowerPoint and using tongue twisters. This is my last time ever buying any educational program on Apples Apps, Ive been disappointed to many times by these so called educational software that just over promise and always under deliver. Ill just take the time to continue to create my own work, at least that way I will get exactly what Im looking for.
