What exactly is a StopOMeter? The Highway Code states quite clearly that you should never drive so fast that you cannot stop comfortably on your own side of the road within the distance you can see to be clear. This is very sound, but not very practical advice, unless you know the stopping distance for every speed that you are likely to travel at. Experienced drivers will have covered many miles before they began to understand the relationship between speed of travel and the distance (and time) required for them to come to a stop.
