Taipei Chinese Restaurant, founded by Charles Weng, has been a staple in the Fox Chapel community since it opened its doors in 1985. Charles had worked his way up from an apprenticeship in Chinese cooking from various chefs in New Yorks famed Chinatown, learning the art of Chinese cooking in every aspect of the kitchen. After 15 years of perfecting his craft, he felt he was ready to take on the task of opening his own restaurant, which he centered around the belief that quality, tasteful dishes in a casually comfortable setting would appeal to the people. Once he got started, things took off and he never looked back.
