Description

The thumb piano is an African musical instrument, common throughout Subsaharan Africa. Now in version 2.0 you can put the Thumb Piano in Head to Head mode which will allow you and someone else to play at the same time on the same phone. Also we have started to add new tunings to the Thumb Piano, check them out and suggest new ones. The instrument has many names including Mbira, Mbila, Mbira Huru, Mbira Njari, Mbira Nyunga Nyunga, Marimba, Karimba, Kalimba, Likembe, Okeme, as well as marímbula (also called kalimba) in the Caribbean Islands. The instrument was often used to accompany and entertain people on long walking trips because of their portability, perfect for an iPhone. A game that we like to play (when two or more people have a thumb piano) is to play call and response. Start with one note, your partner repeats and so on until a long, original melody is being played back and forth. Why not try playing them together as well?
