Tree Book

Northernscout · 15 years ago · v1

I would have rated this book higher if the graphical images of tree branch ends could have been made larger. They are a bit small on the ipod screen. They would probably represent well on the iPad screen. The information is nicely documented though it may take a person a while to get on understanding the classification system if they have not studied biology before. Its a nice thing to have along when doing leisurely trail hikes due to being able to fit in an iPod in a pocket. Pretty compact. Very kind for it to be presented for free. Thanks for that.

Great app

Just what I was looking for

Arborist review

Im an arborist in Manitoba, Canada, and find there are many species missing in the index. All in all, good for quick identification of common trees. For specifics in Canada, the app is lacking.....please update! Thanks

silly cover

"OK I got a great idea. We’ll make an app about trees… then for the cover...find a picture of a double compound leaf, one that looks more like a fern” “But bruce, won’t people be confused, they might think it’s a app about ferns” “Hmm, You may be right mogly. Ok how about we put the words “TREE BOOK” under the leaf.” “Oh Brucey boy, you’ve done it again!!” --All kidding aside, thanks for the free app! I much appreciate what you’ve done!! :)

Awe - some!

SO easy to use! Having tried several other apps for leaf identification, this one actually helps you learn the process of identification as you move through it. My parents were both avid gardeners & naturalists, so I grew up learning to identify plants wherever we traveled or spent time outdoors. I love this app!!

A Great Beginner Tree ID App!

NewToTrees · 16 years ago

Ok, Im not giving the app the 5 star treatment simply because there are more exhaustive apps (which also cost more). They provide a universe of trees and shrubs but with minimal assistance. This is the best beginning tree identification app Ive found and for less than 2 bucks. It has a key (called IDENTIFY) that walks you through simple steps to find the most common trees in North America. It provides links thousands of photos online. A must for every beginner...
