Description

Facebook released the new web based version of Messenger for your browser, but wouldnt it be great if you could wrap it up into its own standalone application? webMessenger For Facebook does exactly that - it simply pulls out the Messenger web app and turns it into a dedicated OS X app. It works just like the Messenger web app, but works standalone without needing a browser. • 100% standalone. No browser needed. • Supports opening links in your default browser. • Supports uploading of photos and files. • Supports dock badge notifications for unread messages. • Full support for Facebook stickers and emoji. • Its web Messenger ... in an app! This is basically a wrapper for the web based Messenger client, but its the only FB Messenger client Ive found that works 100% out of the box. That makes sense, since it is wrapping the official client into a standalone app. Badge notifications work, photo uploads work, and its a very slick package overall. Works great on my older Mac (OS X 10.8.5), as well as my wifes Yosemite machine.

seems to work well

I was looking at updates for apps today and stumbled on this application. So I paid the 3 bucks and so far I haven’t had any complaints about it. Easy setup logins in quickly all my existing chats showed up with no problems. Stickers work great.

where is the microphone option?

Hallelujah75 · 10 years ago

I just downloaded and all my existing chats loaded with no problems. It works just like the app on my phone for typing However Im so disappointed that there is no microphone option to record my voice and no video chat icon either!? This was the main reason I wanted this app on my laptop was for the video chat. I wouldn’t have paid for this app if I knew this. Bummer. Why are these options missing????????

Not bad, but buggy--

Certain elements don’t work: 1. when dragging and dropping an image into the chat wondow, sometimes it uploads twice in a row. Along that line, the attach an image doesn’t always “attach” when you select the file. 2. It’s starting to do text in a vertical line instead of in a straight line if you resize the window or zoom in on it to make the text bigger. 3. There’s no PHONE icon, so i can’t do chatting over the messenger app. 4. The new message alert doens’t always sound, to if it does, it’s much later. What I really like is the Badge notification. This is a solid app that has some bugs and needs an update.
