Whiskybase.com App is an app that makes the biggest whisky database in the world accessible for iOS users. Information about more than 30.000 whisky and whiskey bottles from hundreds of distilleries together with thousands of ratings and tasting notes all available on your phone and tablet. With this app you can add your own information to the database too. After that you can easily look up your own collection, wishlist, rates and tasting notes. More than 4000 whisky enthousiasts joined already. Please join too, you’ll like it. What is Whiskybase? Whiskybase highlights two elements: you as whisky lover and single malt Whisky. Every whisky lover has an opinion about the malt he just drank. At Whiskybase you can leave your opinion in a message or note and compare it with other peoples opinions. Whiskybase is also the place to show your whisky collection and rate the whiskies you have tasted. By doing so, you can explore the beautiful world of whisky and find interesting new flavours. Format iPhone 4 de lappli... Ne se lance pas avec iOS 8, lécran reste sur Loading Data. Et tout ça pour 4,49€ ! Je suis aux (part des) anges !

Nice Idea - poorly implemented

All in all, the app is quite nice and is holding tons of data about the whiskies of the world. However, it doesnt seem to be really up to date (quite some whiskies that were put on the market over a year ago are not to be found in the database yet). Also, what really freaks me out is the lack of a search function within a single distillery. Looking for an Ardbeg Uigeadail takes quite some scrolling - whilst looking for a Bruichladdich Octomore might take some time to recognize that Octomore is being treated as a separate distillery. The app for sure was great some years ago when apps and iPhones were brand new - but for today, it seems really week it I wouldnt pay €3.99 for this again.

Umfangreiche Datenbank

So muss es sein: eine enorme Datenbank, die von der Community gepflegt wird, wahlweise Eingabe per PC/Webbrowser oder App, ein sinnvoller Funktionsumfang und ein akzeptabler Preis ohne versteckte Folgekosten. Die Whisky-Datenbank ist die größte, die ich je gesehen habe. Hier findet man wirklich jeden Whisky, jedes einzelne Fass. Und zu jedem gibt es teilweise sehr ausführliche Reviews inkl. Bezugsquellen und Preis. Wem das iPhone zur Eingabe zu umständlich ist, der kann seine Whiskys per Webbrowser suchen und verwalten, die Daten werden automatisch synchronisiert. Das Erscheinungsbild der App könnte etwas moderner sein und mir fehlen ein paar Funktionen (z.B. kombinierte Suche nach Preis und Rating). Alles in allem klare Kaufempfehlung! Mein Vorschlag: einfach auf der Webseite alles kostenlos ausprobieren, eigene Whiskykollektion einrichten und dann die App holen, einloggen - schon hat man alles auf dem iPhone und beim nächsten Tasting parat.

Fehler, z.B. bei den Sammlungen

Die Seite ist wirklich gut und jedem Whisky Liebhaber sehr zu empfehlen. Die App. ist leider noch nicht so ausgereift. Mir sind mehrere Fehler aufgefallen. Zum Beispiel beim Anlegen der Sammlung. Wenn man eine Flasche rausnimmt, dann wird sie doppelt hinzugefügt. Derartige Fehler dürfen meiner Meinung nach bei einer so teuren App. nicht passieren.

Way too many bugs...

There are just too many bugs that havent been fixed. Lists are not displayed correctly, logging in does not work from time to time etc. etc.. Additionally, states arent saved when hitting a back button which results in lots and lots of scrolling. In its current state, it is way more comfortable to just use the website. I would not recommend this App even it was free...
