Description

World Magnetic Model (WMM) calculates the components of the Earth’s Magnetic Field. It uses the computational engine developed by the US NGDC (National Geophysical Data Center) and other agencies. The computational engine is in the public domain. This app is intended to be used for educational purposes only. Please don’t use it for navigational calculations critical to safe navigation.

Wont work

Great Reference for Magnetic Model

This app works well. I checked it against the government web site for world magnetic model. It works flawlessly on my iPhone and iPod Touch. Its a great app for estimating magnetic variation.

The software appears to have sign error for the magnetic declination...? The software does not reproduce the samples shown on the App page! Who is checking this application?

Compass graphic wrong

Under the detail view the magnetic declination is correct numerically BUT the compass graphic shows the offset in the wrong direction. In my area Magnetic North is west of True North. The app shows the correct value, but the compass graphic shows MN offset to the east of TN. Good thing the app has the warning not to use for navigation!
