Synopsis A young urban missionary struggles with his own demons as he tries to convert a local prostitute. The backstory Wrestled is based on true events that director Phil Donlon witnessed in his neighborhood on the West Side of Chicago over the course of one summer. Wanting to remain true to the story, Phil decided to shoot on the actual street corners and in the back alleys where these events took place. Because of this choice, the pimp and various prostitutes who worked that particular block threatened to harm the actress playing the prostitute (Kelli Nonnemacher) and the crew of Wrestled if they did not leave. During the two-day shoot Kelli was propositioned 10 times by unassuming “johns”.
