Description

xSpell is designed to help early graders learn to spell, especially for the next test ! Up to 30 words lists of up to 24 words can be entered by you. In addition, there are several "standard" curriculum spelling word lists available for Grades 1 - 3, and some "fun" lists. xSpell is very easy to use, but is thorough. The computer speaks the word and the student types it in. If the word is spelled correctly, xSpell advances to the next word after a congratulatory comment. If the word is missed, the student is asked to try again. After two misses the "Hints" feature is activated to guide the student towards the correct spelling. Hints allow the student to learn hard words. After the lesson is completed there is a review session to go back over any words that were missed or received hints. The review is repeated as long as necessary for the student to correctly spell all of the words. You can select any of the available voices on your computer for the teacher. You can also pick out a subset of these voices for the student to easily cycle through with the "Change Voice" button. This helps a lot with intelligibility on some words. xSpell was originally developed a few years ago for my grandkids. Yes, they did well on their spelling tests. The app is easy to use, effective, and cheap - its a xApp !
