Established in 2003, the Youth Congress on Information Technology (formerly known as the Philippine Youth Congress on Information Technology)—commonly known as Y4iT—is an annual information technology event in the Philippines, organized by the UP System Information Technology Foundation (UP SITF). Aimed primarily at college students, professionals, educators, IT experts and enthusiasts,Y4iT is an enabling event for todays youth and aspires to recognize young Filipinos as key drivers in the dynamic IT industry. Since its launching, Y4iT has gone on to be at the forefront of information technology gathering events in the Philippines. Various relevant and exciting IT topics are presented and discussed. The event is co-organized by the Y4iT Volunteer Corps (YVC). The biggest IT congress for the Filipino youth (and for the young at heart) is tapping into the limitless potential of the individual. The Youth Congress on Information Technology (Y4iT)s theme for 2014 is "Harnessing the Power of Me". The theme revolves on the insightful use of IT with the goal of giving back to society. In the fast-paced and ever-changing world, IT plays a critical role in enabling individuals to realize their aspirations and commitments. As such, these individuals inspire their communities to be ever vigilant in the midst of environmental and developmental issues. True to its theme, Y4iT attendees are enjoined to present their short papers on various concepts that aim to address said issues. Y4iT 2014 becomes the dynamic conduit that enables young Filipinos to voice out their concerns and present their solutions to pressing issues faced by society.
