CBT Pad is a diary application for assisting individuals with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy exercises.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an evidence-based form of psychotherapy. It focuses on helping the individual learn and use new thinking skills to modify negative emotions, beliefs and behaviors.

CBT Pad provides an effective method for recording the most common elements of CBT exercises. These are:
• the event or situation in which the thoughts occurred
• the automatic thoughts and type of distorted thinking they represent
• consequences of the thoughts
• an objective assessment of their accuracy and a more balanced conclusion
• steps for further action

The app is in active development so please send your feedback and suggestions for improvement.

Note:
CBT Pad is not a mental health intervention; it is a collaborative tool for use in conjunction with a CBT practitioner. Advice should always be sought from a qualified health professional for any mental health problem.

Well …

This app is gorgeous! It works really well. Except for three things, that is: – You can’t add additional distortions – It is not localized in German – The icon is crap. It is nonsense, it has no relevant meaning, it is ugly, it is horrible.

Havent tried it but it looks great

I havent used this yet, since Im not taking a CBT course right now and cant locate the material from when I did take one. However, just from looking at this app I can tell it will be a great help if I ever go into CBT again. My last course didnt help much since I kept forgetting to do my homework. This will help since Im on the computer a lot and prefer typing to writing. This app would definitely encourage me to record more. And looking at the things you fill out, it definitely reminds me of the things we were encouraged to record during the course. There should be more apps like this out there.

Thank You..

I will be waiting for i-pad version as well so easyer to use and carry around for all day and night! Thank you...Thank you Optimism..You Rock!

great tool!

great app! great tool. very very helpful tool

CBT Pad needs password protection

I use CBT Pad along with Optimism for Mac and Web. The only application that has a password is Optimism Web, obviously to allow you to log into the web site. I believe a password is necessary to protect my extremely personal thoughts.

Such a Great Idea - so Helpul!

A great app for anyone actively trying to change his or her life by countering the negative thought patterns that hold you back- that in a nutshell is what CBT or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is all about. A great book on the subject is "Feelign Good" by David Burns. When I first read "Feeling Good" I loved some of the exercises and created a template in Word that would encourage me to use them. But I never really did - it wasnt laid out well enough or easy enough to use. This program is EXACTY what I would have created for myself if I knew how to code. My only note for version 2, under "recoginzed distortions" either a drop down menu, or an info box I could click on to remind me of the different possible distortions. This app is such a good idea - thanks so much! For those of you who dont really know what this is, CBT is a technique some therapists use exclusively while other use tools from it in combination with whats called a psychodynamic approach; both are theraputive. If you want to know more about CBT I def. recommend the book Feeling Good by David Burns... that and a great therapist. Finding the right therapist is like finding someone to date... dont give up if the first person you meet with isnt for you. Once you find the right one, and you do the work, you really can change yor life for the better.

Thank you for this app

Like the last reviewer, Ive tried to make my own easy-to-fill-out CBT forms so Id practice this technique more, but they didnt work well enough. This one is perfect. It has very simple controls, saves your past worksheets, and now it has an info box for "recognized distortions" too. I have chronic anxiety and, in short, this app helps me unhook from it and move on. It helps me look at my feelings and thinking objectively so I can find the distortions that are causing emotional pain and anxiety. Im always hugely relieved after I run a problem through this process. Thank you again for making this app.
