Decibel Meter has been updated to be fully compatible with iOS 4, and multitasking aware. We have also updated Decibel Meter to work with the iPod touch! So if you have an iPod Touch with an internal or external mic you can enjoy the best sound meter on the App Store.

Ever wonder how loud a sound really is? Well now you can with Decibel Meter! Decibel Meter uses your iPhone’s built in Mic to determine the intensity level of sounds it picks up, and displays it in dB SPL (Decibel Sound Pressure Level). *
Simply start up Decibel Meter and it will automatically start sampling sounds, and shows you the RMS average decibel reading as well as the peak decibel reading. Decibel Meter also provides a fun graphical way of interpreting the level of sound.
The iPhone’s built in Mic has the ability to pick up sounds near 0 dB SPL and up to around 110 dB SPL. Be sure to check out our website for a better understand of how decibels are measured!

comparaison avec un vrai sonometre
Jai comparé cet apres midi le sound meter avec un vrai sonomètre, les résultats étaient completement différents. Parfois 20dB en dessous, parfois 10dB au dessus. Cest un simple gadget et non un utilitaire.

pas très fiable
Jai testé la bête en concert et franchement ... nan, cest pas bien fiable... il grimpe tout de suite a 114 Db et nen descotche pas, même quand je méloigne sensiblement des enceintes... ça tient réellement plus du gadget quautre chose...
Nice "tool"
Very nice and simple. Now I can "proof" to my daugthers when the music is way too loud. Should have a memory check later the peaks and maybe the average.
Aplicação boa, porém trava
Aplicação boazinha, porém trava os dados digitais quando habilitamos a função indicador de progresso da amostragem juntamente com a taxa de amostragem para mais de de 5 HZ. A precisão, repetibilidade e exatidão estão bem próximos do RMS.
Muito bom
Comigo funcionou tudo certinho, não travou nem nada. Só gostaria que o programa detecte sons mais altos que 106db. Would like to use it with sounds louder than 106db.
