All reviews →molto utile
Useful but leaves a lot to be desired
This app is somewhat useful , but could use several improvements. The translations are literal, but often not very descriptive. There are also many misspelled words. The biggest problem is the lack of a "search" function.. If you are looking at a menu & want to know what something is, youre out of luck if you dont know what category the item is.
Traveler
Only 2 out of 10 items found from French menus on my recent trip. Poor results and not worth the money.
A la Mornay = "Mornay style"? Not so helpful
For the most basic definitions, e.g. "huevo" = "egg", this app does a fine job. But that is probably not what you are hoping it will do for you. If youre in Spain and you dont immediately ask for an English version of the menu, you probably already know that "huevo" translates to "egg." What you probably want is a food translation dictionary that will help you understand food terms that you might not even understand in English. This app translates "a la provenzal" as "Provenzal style." Well, thanks. I figured that much. If I dont know what "Provenzal style" means (a Google search suggests it is "cooked with green parsley and garlic, maybe spicy or not", then the app hasnt helped much. Even less helpful are some non-definitions, e.g, "Abaccio" is translated as..... "abacchio"! Annoyingly, many terms are listed two or three times - looks like they tried to merge two databases and failed to eliminate dupliates. And the Add to Favorites Star doesnt seem to work for me. Overall, a very disappointing app. Its got a decent start at a database if they could actually define the terms I care about. And to the apps credit: the search function does seem to work pretty well, unlike some other comments.
Helpful Travel App
I plan to use this app on vacation in Spain. Ive done some test searches (yes, you can search through "all categories") and its very helpful. Nearly every foodie word Ive searched for is available in the off-line dictionary.
