Needs a total overhaul

Mark Winward · 9 years ago · v2.5.15

This app is still stuck back in 2010. The app dimension indicate that it has not been localized for the iPhone 6 screen or later generations. There is no easy way to see what parking passes you have reserved, no push notification for time, and no easy way to extend time. Everything in the app seems to be stuck behind some window. To developers: Look at some of the other more successful apps and figure out what you’re not doing because the only only reason that anyone is still actually using this app is because they have to.

Bleah, Yech!

Compared to putting a quarter in a meter for an hour, this is a giant waste of time, though I can see the potential. A few issues: The GPS pointer for my current location was far enough off that it told me there was no parking available, and it took me a while to figure out how to force it over to where my car was actually parked. Copy and paste of my password from my password store doesn’t work. Oh, wait, press-and-hold doesn’t bring up the Paste option, double-tap does, just like nothing else in the Apple ecosystem. During the setup process I told the app not to automatically top-up my account, since I prefer to pay for exactly my parking charge at the time I use it (yes, even with a surcharge). So instead of charging me 25 cents (yes, yes, plus a surcharge), it auto charged me $20. Which is 80 hours of parking in this particular lot, which is about a 5-year commitment. I paid for the first hour, it appropriately told me my first hour was up, and I signed up for another hour. At the end of the second hour, it DID NOT NOTIFY ME that my time had expired and offer to sign up for another hour. Fortunately, I didn’t get a ticket, but GIANT FAIL given what the app is supposed to do! Oh, and the word on the street is that this payment method isn’t actually being enforced in this particular lot (yet?), so I didn’t need to pay anyway. I’d really like to be informed when I’m beta-testing software, so I can decline to waste my time.

Not sure what happened

I registered online and then downloaded the app to find that it keeps crashing, downloaded 2 times already still no resolution. Hope this gets fixed soon

Kind of necessary

It doesnt have quite the solid feel that you would want to have in an app of this nature, and if all the available spaces had plain old meters, then I would probably prefer just to put a quarter in the slot. However, the larger lots have switched to using the central pay-by-space-number meters, which are invariably broken when you need them to work, so I have been thankful for GoParkit on quite a few occasions.
