Description

ESSENTIAL DRILLS AND SECRET GRIPFIGHTING TECHNIQUES TO DEFEAT BIGGER, STRONGER OPPONENTS This is the first of 5 apps in which Emily Kwok and Stephan Kesting share with you the secrets to defeating bigger, stronger opponents on the ground using Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The most important thing you can do to stop a larger opponent from rag dolling you is to control the grips. Thats why Emily and Stephan teach you how to use defensive gripfighting to completely shut down your opponents sweeps, submissions and throws. And how to use offensive gripfighting to control the pace of the match and set up your own attacks. The techniques taught in this app apply both to standing work and on the ground. This means once you learn a technique you can use it in both contexts. But in Volume One Emily and Stephan ALSO share their collection of must-know, must-do grappling drills. These sports-specific drills will strengthen your body, prepare you for training, and prevent injuries. Most importantly these drills allow you to easily perform lots of repetitions in an easy and efficient manner. Repetition leads to mastery. With these drills youll have a ton of reps under your belt in no time. Larger grapplers often just use their their strength, size and weight advantages to overpower you. Its very frustrating to get pinned and smothered by a less skilful opponent whose only advantage is having 10, 20 or 50 pounds of additional muscle. Big guys have much stronger upper bodies, so they can just bench press their way out of bad positions. But if you try this not only will it be ineffective but it will leave your arms limp, drained, and feeling completely powerless. Plus its scary when big guys dont know how to control their strength and weight, and have no clue how to train with smaller people. Injuries are often caused by Sasquatch-like grapplers who go totally agro when their egos are threatened. In this series of apps youll have two Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts show you the techniques and strategies to defeat even the biggest, strongest, scariest attackers on the ground. Crazy speed, flexibility, or athleticism are NOT required; the emphasis is on staying safe and preventing injuries at all times. Emily is a multiple time BJJ world champion, both with and without the gi. Shes taught and worked with thousands of grapplers of all levels. Stephan Kesting is a BJJ black belt with more than 30 years of Martial Arts experience and is the founder Grapplearts.com. Important basics

DavidNY61 · 12 years ago

Kwok and Kesting are among the best BJJ communicators and they work together well on this App. The content is about half drills and is more important for people lacking a qualified instructor. The remainder is grip fighting. Its not the sexiest topic but Kwok explains the importance clearly. A good app but more drills than I would like.

Great stuff!

Great basics!

Both Kwok and Kesting are great at getting their point across in a clear manner. Excellent video and audio quality. I wish I had these basics explained to me when I first started, it would have saved me a lot of time.
