Description

Steam calculates the thermodynamic and transport properties of water and steam for subcooled (compressed liquid), saturated, two-phase (wet steam), superheated, and supercritical conditions. Use Steam in the field and in the classroom to replace tedious interpolation of steam properties from printed steam tables. Steam includes both the IAPWS Industrial Formulation 1997 for the Thermodynamic Properties of Water and Steam (IF97) and the 1967 IFC-Formulation for Industrial Use (IFC-67) for property calculations. Although the 1997 formulation has been available for almost 30 years, the 1967 formulation is still used in some industries. Save calculations to review later or to compare differences between the 1997 and 1967 formulations. Switch instantly between imperial (psia, F, Btu/lbm, etc.) or metric (kPa, C, kJ/kg, etc.) engineering units. Customize those sets of units for your needs. With just one tap, convert calculated outputs from one set of units to the other. A third set of units can be defined, and a units conversion calculator is also provided. The allowable range of input values will be displayed when the inputs are out of range. On the settings tab, change the number of significant digits in the output, customize the engineering units, modify the font size, and select the theme for the app. Select one of the functions with these inputs: p,t - pressure and temperature p,h - pressure and specific enthalpy p,s - pressure and specific entropy h,s - specific enthalpy and specific entropy p,x - pressure and steam quality (vapor fraction) t,x - temperature and steam quality (vapor fraction) to calculate: - Specific enthalpy - Specific entropy - Specific internal energy - Specific volume - Density - Specific isobaric heat capacity - Specific isochoric heat capacity - Isentropic exponent - Speed of sound - Thermal conductivity - Dynamic viscosity - Kinetic viscosity - Prandtl number - Surface tension For saturated and two-phase (wet steam) conditions: - Saturation temperature - Saturation pressure - Saturated liquid, saturated vapor, and two-phase properties - Specific enthalpy - Specific enthalpy heat of vaporization - Specific entropy - Specific entropy of vaporization - Specific internal energy - Specific volume - Density For saturated liquid and saturated vapor conditions: - Specific isobaric heat capacity - Specific isochoric heat capacity - Isentropic exponent - Speed of sound - Thermal conductivity - Dynamic viscosity - Kinetic viscosity - Prandtl number
