Description

Sure, its "just" a dictionary app... As a reader, you can use it like you would normally use a dictionary, to look up specialized or unusual words, and youll get what you expect: a concise definition to get you back to reading. But... heres the great part. As a writer, you can also use it to look up words you already know. Or think you do! And you should, because this is Mr. Websters actual and original dictionary. The real deal. The magic is in the definitions for commonplace words. Just take a look at the screenshots! This is good stuff. It will delight and amuse. It may even kindle your imagination. The authors personality shines through in colorful prose thats packed with classic examples of usage. And! Remember paging through a big hardcover dictionary looking for a word only to get sidetracked exploring other words youd stumble across? Oh-hoh! If I may bend your ear a moment longer... The usual way to do search is to show only results that match what has been typed so far. And normally thats perfect: dont show you anything you dont need to see, right? But if I did it that way, how can you get sidetracked? So I went a different direction. All of the words are in a giant list. You can scroll it or jump to a letter. And as you search, it scrolls to the first match. Its fast and you can find what you want quickly, but it still leaves room for serendipity. Get it and get writing!

Excellent

supersir22 · 9 years ago · v1.1

I seriously love his dictionary. It not only explains what words mean but gives in-depth examples and expounds on the vocabulary. Beautifully done and so helpful. Way more helpful than we esters and would recommend it over it. Timeless and classic, with a look back into the intricacies of an old era where men knew exactly what they said when they said it.

I love it

Profound and Fantastic

zgillmore · 9 years ago · v1.1

Using the older version of Websters Dictionary to draw definitions from was a great idea. The language used in the older versions convey meaning in a much more profound way then the more modern versions.

Works great.

Great

The best app for the 1914 version of Websters Unabridged Dictionary I could find on the App Store. Beautifully designed, simple, no ads. Truly a pleasure to use.

Inaccurate outdated definitions

*NAQ* · 10 years ago

Outdated information and not unbiased and accurate like Merriam-Websters dictionary. For example the definition for wolf is an archaic inaccurate version saying they are savage, destructive and even attack people. This is a belief from 50 years ago. True writers go with Merriam-Websters.

Speechless

Id better start looking up words to write a presentable review.
