Description

The Eastern Orthodox Bible is a scholarly translation and edition of the Holy Scriptures based on the Patriarchal Greek Orthodox with extensive introductory material. Only the New Testament is available. This New Testament text is based on the official ecclesiastical text published in 1904 by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople (documenting all significant variants to the Critical Text, Majority Text and Textus Receptus). It also provides extensive footnotes. The main purpose of the EOB is to provide an accurate and easy-to-read English text of the Holy Scriptures that is suitable for use by Orthodox Christian communities and individuals, while providing an outstanding text for scholars. A Great Bible Still in Development

Though only containing the New Testament (the Old still in the process of editing) this Bible is a great production thus far and highly recommended.

Best translation! Search function doesnt work.

Best translation! Search function doesnt work though. Im sure that will get fixed soon. I would give it 5 stars after the search function is fixed.

This Bible is great. I am happy that they render verses like Luke 11:28 in a way that is both Orthodox and the clear meaning of the text. There are many useful footnotes as well.

Ive been waiting for this for a long time, and am pleased with this app. Well worth the low price for what it offers. One question: when the septuagintal Old Testament is released, will it be automatically included in an update of this app, or will it be a separate app (I hope not) or an in-app purchase?

The EOB, an accurate and truly Orthodox translation, far surpasses the watered-down, evangelical-orthodox hybrid that is the OSB. If the OT ever comes to fruition, the Orthodox - and all Christians - will finally have a genuine English translation of the Septuagint/ Patriarchal text. Many years to the translators!
