Transform your routine outdoor exercise into virtual adventures around the world! Experience what it is like to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. Stroll through the streets of ancient Rome. Or challenge your friends to a trek around the Annapurna range in Nepal - all without leaving your hometown.
Hike the World uses your phones GPS antenna to measure the distance and elevation gain you accomplish during your outdoor activity. It then maps it against the adventure of your choice – walk through the ancient city of Petra, the Inca trail to Machu Picchu or any of the other offered walks, hikes, treks, climbs or bike rides.
Every adventure includes detailed maps of the destination, stories describing the adventure and rich photography. As you continue your activities, your virtual adventure progresses. Milestone after milestone, new photos and stories are unlocked. Once you finish, you can brag (ahem, share) your accomplishment via Facebook or email, directly from the app.
You can also create a virtual challenge, inviting your friends to join you on any of the adventures. The app displays everyone’s progress along the virtual adventure in real time.
In addition to the virtual world, the app also displays and stores the data about your real physical activities, including maps of your routes. So, you have a record of your hikes, runs or bike rides.
