iHome+Sleep, the alarm clock app from the experts on alarm clocks at Mac App Store analyse

This is an update to my review from 5 years ago. My original: There is definitely a learning curve to climb, but it (ver 2.7) has worked as advertised for over a year. Has not had a problem with the iOS 6.0 release, and it works well with my iHome alarm clock. I have not upgraded to the current release, however, due to the reviews that indicate a lot of bugs and crashing. There are minor things that I would like different, such as the ability to see the entire song title when choosing the iPod option for a wake up alarm, so I am not giving it 5 stars. I would not have a problem recommending it to anyone though. Here’s the update: It no longer works as advertised. Similar to other reviewers’ experiences, in the middle of the night it would kick me over to the App Store for some app it was advertising. Then it would ignore my wake up music selection and play something random from my song list. Then it actually didn’t go off a couple of times, and I was late getting up. NOT GOOD. I bought another alarm clock app, only to realize how feature poor and finicky it was. So I decided to buy the ad-free version of this app. Had a one-day honeymoon where it worked perfectly. It’s great that it no longer kicks me over to the App Store, but now two mornings in a row it simply turned off the alarm. I happened to wake up before it was supposed to go off, turned it back on, only to have it pull the random song and blast it. No gradual wake. Went back and checked the settings - yup, everything still set with the correct choices. So it ignores settings, turns itself off, and is no longer dependable to actually wake me up on time. Wow. That pretty much makes it worthless. It worked so well for so long, I hate to see it end like this, but it appears the iOS moved on and they have quit testing and/or updating it. What a shame.

The app has a gradual wake feature, which I like the idea of—the volume of an alarm starts off very quietly, then gradually gets louder. However, Ive tried using this feature multiple times and its extremely disappointing. Rather than starting at a volume that is barely audible, it instead blasts noise at FULL VOLUME for a full second before becoming quiet. At first I thought it was the volume set on my phone, so I muted it, but still experienced the same problem. This completely ruins the purpose of "gradual wake", and I hope it is fixed in a future update.

Won’t stay connected to Ihome radio so it still only as loud as the phone which is worthless for a hard sleeper. Still charges the phone and will be connected for about 30 seconds. Only started after new IOS for iPhone came out. Just update your app ihome.

I use this app every night. Love it!! Wrote the above review Years back. Now Ive had enough of it. After the updates from the app and apple, this alarm app is unrealiable and unpredictable. The clock alarm in the iPhone is what Im going back to using. Disappointing.

This happened at some point. Its a real annoyance. Was it some update? This needs to be fixed. Otherwise works fine.
