Using your GPS location, Wind Vane uses a custom algorithm to provide accurate, current wind direction and speed. Wind Vane can display the wind speed in miles per hour, knots, or kilometers per hour. This application also has a built in compass so you can see the wind direction relative to true or magnetic North. Why choose Wind Vane? We set out to make the most accurate wind gauge on the market. We thought about sound algorithms with the microphone but determined weather station and GFS data is more accurate and is trusted throughout the weather community nationwide. In addition, we can display the direction the wind is coming from creating additional value for our clients. After all, what good is speed without direction? This application will work on an iPhone 3GS and later as it requires a compass. Internet connectivity is needed to display the wind. Great app for golfers!

This nice little app is great to judge the wind direction. Its amazing how accurate it is! I tested it holding my iPhone in different directions and the app was spot on to detect the wind direction. Specially helpful for golfers. Highly recommended!

sweet and simple. I like it. inexpensive and easy to use. just one suggestion, maybe be able to change your location, to check other places that you might be golfing or flying for wind readings. thanks!

Im a windsurfer in San Francisco Bay. Knowing the wind is key for choosing the right sail to race with. Many times you cant trust your eyes as the tide can make the wind look stronger or weaker. Wind where you are rigging can be different than on the water too. Thats where this helpful tool can come in handy.

Lack of accuracy

it is not accurate at all! while playing golf it does not update the compass quick enough in addition wind speeds are off by 8-10 hrs

Ive already used this app when fishing, golfing, and flying a kite with my kids. My kids checked the wind speed and direction every morning of break to see if it was a good time to fly their new kites from Santa

Really like this app but my eyesight isnt the best in the world. Would be perfect if it had the ability to increase font size.
