Description

Diabetes Personal Calculator is an all-in-one insulin calculator and carbohydrate database. It is developed for Type 1 Diabetics injecting pre-meal fast or rapid acting insulin. Diabetes Personal Calculator has been designed for convenience and helps to remove errors and guesswork when calculating your pre-meal insulin dose. View demo video at: http://iapps.itenutosoft.com/video/dpmiphoneios4.mov *** The Brazilian Food database and Portuguese translation are provided by Antonio Almeida from Feira de Santana-Bahia-Brazil, [email protected]. *** The German translation is provided by Michael Bridger. Diabetes Personal Calculator provides the functionality of: * Recording daily pre-meal blood glucose, meal/snack food items, suggested, actual and Long Acting insulin doses. * Selecting food items from a generic food database. * Modifying serving or weight to get the corresponding carbs for the food. * Calculating a bolus insulin dose based on your blood glucose reading, target and correction factor. * Calculating a pre-meal insulin dose based on your blood glucose reading, target and correction factor (optional), and the amount of carbohydrates in your meal or snack based on your carbs/insulin ratio. * Viewing a demo video included in the App for easy use. Diabetes Personal Calculator enables the user to: 1. Create personal database of favorite foods and meals, brand-name foods, and restaurant meals. 2. Save carbohydrate intake, foods and meals consumed, insulin doses, bolus doses, blood glucose readings, and daily long acting insulin dose to a diary, from which reports can be viewed and be sent as email. 3. Input up to six different Carbs/Insulin ratios (also known as Carbohydrate Factor), for breakfast, morning snack or bolus, lunch, afternoon snack or bolus, dinner, and evening snack or bolus. 4. Select your blood glucose unit, mg/dL or mmol/L. 5. Set your target blood glucose and Correction Factor. 6. Calculate a pre-meal insulin dose based on your personal Carbs/Insulin ratio and Correction Factor, pre-meal and target blood glucose, and total carbohydrate value of your meal or snack. 7. Calculate a bolus insulin dose based on your blood glucose reading, target and personal Correction Factor. 8. Find and adjust the carbohydrate values, according to serving size and / or weight, of nearly 250 generic foods from a built-in database. 9. Input your own pre-calculated carb value for any meal. 10. Look up, retrieve, and add together carbohydrate values from the generic food list (plus any pre-calculated carb values you wish to add) to create the total carb value for your meal or snack, from which your pre-meal insulin dose will be calculated. Important: Diabetes Personal Calculator must only be used as a guide and on the advice of your physician. ApplicaIone Ottima!!!!

Dentino666 · 16 years ago

Consigliata!!!

Alright

Needs improvements in the food database. Dupes need to be removed and non generic food labels should be added, ie carbs in a bowl of cheerios. Good otherwise.

Crap!

Free in this case equals useless. Even a 1st grader program can program such better. - food database needs to be customizable - when you switch units, carb and correction ratios remain the same. Is it so hard to divide/multiply all values by 18??? This presents a significant danger to less attentive patient! - I can chose non-US units for glucose, thats nice, but why I have to be stuck with ounces and other archaic units?

Excellent aid to control blood glucose

GeneW. · 15 years ago

I have taken large doses of insulin for 42 years, and have kept my HbA1c in range (latest 5.8% 39.4mmol/mol). The earlier version of Diabetes Personal Calculator program was excellent, but I asked the developer to add carbs needed to return to target and they added this feature. Now I can use the program to calculate how much insulin or carbs is needed to return to target. BRILLIANT!! No more overcompensating for low blood glucose.

Good, bit missing one very important thing

FriscoSooner · 15 years ago

I was happy to find this app. I have been using a spreadsheet to calculate my bolus doses (and was in the early stages of developing my own app) and it is not very convenient on my iPhone. This app is very close to what I had developed. However, it is missing one feature that could be very important and potentially dangerous if missed. There is no way of taking in to account your IOB (Insulin On Board). If your shots are very close together you could possibly overdose on your bolus. With so many different types of insulin out there I feel that this is a critical piece that is missing. Otherwise I would have rated this app higher. Get it added and this could be a five star app.

Well designed calculator! Great app!

thankful+loveit · 14 years ago

I downloaded this app since day 1, and it has helped me greatly. Its easy and convenient. I also downloaded Diabetes Manager to record and monitor my daily insulin usage and blood sugar. Diabetes Manage provides Bolus on Board calculation and references, so I can check on my calculation. Really great apps! This app is simple and intuitive, the developers must have done a lot of thinking to make it so easy to use. The food database has the food items I eat. I can just pick and add to my meals. I use mmol/l and I only need to enter my settings, this app does all the calculation automatically. Will definitely get Diabetes Manager.

Calculator review

I am diabetic and use calculators to determine my carb intake. This app has very few foods in it. Don’t bother Calorie King and Lose it and others have better, bigger databases. I want to delete it from my apps.
