See the beginning and end of the Civil War with the sites around Richmond. Walk where Lincoln, Lee, and Grant walked during the final days of the war. In addition to the early action of the Seven Days and the 1864 action of the Overland Campaign, this app will take you to the sites where history was made in the final weeks of the war. Walk the trail that General Grant took to the surrender of Robert E. Lee at Appomattox and follow Abraham Lincolns walk through Richmond as the city was still smoldering. Lincoln was in Richmond only hours after the Confederates left and just 10 days before he was assassinated. He was overwhelmed by the joyful crowd of free people, and met with choruses of "Glory to God! Glory! Glory! Glory!"
This app is from the makers of the best-selling “Gettysburg 150” app that was nominated in Apple’s 2012 Design Awards. Virginia Civil War 3 has a new feature that enables you to open any location in Apple Maps. You can now select a battlefield, press “Open in Apple Maps” and receive driving, walking, or public transportation directions to the battlefield. For instance, you can easily plan a driving trip to the locations of the Seven Days Battles of June, 1862.
In addition to the map view, the app also has a satellite view to help you navigate the terrain and see how it affected the outcome of each battle. So download the app now and walk in the footsteps of history on America’s hallowed ground.
